Tuesday Sept 22. was Back to School

So Tuesday was Colt’s first day back to school. Bradley and I both decided to take him since we had all of his school supplies and several books.  He was so very excited to see everyone and all the staff and kids welcomed him with hugs, and the kids in his class made another poster for him, and his teacher is very great, she has texted and called me to check on him the entire time he has been out.  It was great to see that beaming smile on his face.   That smile it what makes my day even better.

Bradley and I go over behavior rules about every morning with him and pray he follows them and has a good day. I am really hoping that having an increase in his O2 sats are going to help with all the struggles we had with focusing, staying on task, listening, everyone says that is a boy thing but for Colt I think he was just really tired from Jan. – June of last year.

He is so smart and can be such a sweetheart, but  he can also be stubborn and impulsive and have a complete meltdown over something small,  we all know he is rotten and we are the blame for that but we have went through a lot in the past 7 years and I think he is  allowed to be a little rotten, but still we believe in teaching him good manners and behaviors.

My parents and sisters, Colt’s Cousins,  came out to dinner Sunday and also had family down from Ohio Sunday Colt’s Uncle Spencer, Aunt Jane, and cousin Taylor and also cousin Andrew and his girlfriend Brianna who just moved to Lexington. It was so nice, Colt was excited to see everyone the ladies from Spenc and Jane’s church made him a Batman blanket he absolutely loved and he Spenc gave him Money  which Colt didn’t need, but he did get some valuable golfing tips from Uncle Spenc and he has been hitting balls about everyday since.

Anyways enough of my crazy rambling…  most important.  Colt is doing great, thanks be to God for being an Awesome and Loving God.  HIS LOVE HEALS.

Cardiology appointments and updates

Sorry, being home has been busier than ever.

Colt's cardiology appointment last week went great Dr. Cottrill said he still needed to continue the Lasix and stay on low fat diet until out next appointment next month with her. Colt got his stitches taken out and we can now have visitors, we are still trying to avoid places like Walmart and large crowds for another few days.

Colt started last Thursday with the homebound teacher, she will be coming on Tuesdays and Thursday. There is a lot of math for 2nd grade but we are really pushing him to get caught up on everything.

I am still so very Thankful for all the continued prayers and thankful for everyone who has visited. Colt was starting to get really tired of see only me and Bradley.

Please keep praying for my brother Shane he still has a very long road to recovery, but as he said he has his Angel taking care of him meaning his wife. (is that not the sweetest thing ever).  We got to facetime Saturday and Colt and him showed each other their scars, it took everything for me not to cry.

Thank you God for these 2 amazing souls and thank you for helping mend their broken hearts.

Scar Brothers

Colt and I got to facetime my brother Shane Sunday evening and we told him we loved him and Colt said Uncle Shane we are going to be scar brothers, Shane laughed.  That is so Colt, what a weirdo, but he is mine.

I could see the tiredness in his Shane’s eyes and his appearance looked worn. By Sunday night mom and dad has said Shane didn’t look as good, he was swelling, having a hard time breathing, and could not get comfortable, so thank the lord surgery was scheduled for the next morning.

We received updates good and not so good yesterday and even though yesterday was my first day back to work I had the hardest time concentrating but is gave me focus and tasks to complete to make the time go by until the next update.

As I heard the pain and fear in my mom’s voice as she had just come from seeing my brother on a ventilator following his surgery, I told her I knew exactly what she felt because I have seen my child like that 3 times now, for me this last time was a little easier because they already had him off the vent. But the pain cuts deep and you just feel completely helpless, as a mom control is a big focal point – we like to keep everything within our control and when instances and situations occur that are out of it, we lose it, but luckily through the Grace of God he lifts us up and he carries us, our feet never touch the ground.
In addition to replacing the aortic valve, they also had to replace the Mitral valve and the bacteria damaged his heart more by eating a hole through a part of it, so the doctor also stitched it best he could and hoping it will hold, we are still waiting to get word if he will need a pace maker.

Today was a new day though, the road to recovery is still going to be a long and curvy one for Shane, but the road is there, they got him off the vent last night,  the 3 chest tubes were removed today and he was up walking around a little bit. To that I say PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Giving a big fist bump to Scar Brothers BIG & SMALL!!!
